Jahzara Claxton is the silver medallist in the heptathlon at the CARIFTA 50 Games, in the Bahamas. She amassed 4614 points in the seven-discipline event to claim the coveted spot. En route to claiming her silver medal, Jahzara won the 200m and the 800m.
The Charles E Mills Secondary student continues to show exceptional athleticism as she captured the podium spot. She secured 667 points in the 100m hurdles; 701 points in high jump; 458 points in shot put; 808 points in the 200m; 680 points in long jump; 681 points in the javelin throw and 619 points in the 800m to complete her tally.
Jahzara is also a national football player and West Indies U19 female cricketer.
Her silver medal makes four the total for St. Kitts and Nevis, with one gold, two silvers and a bronze.
The gold medal, in the heptahlon, was won by Jamaica’s Sherika Christie, with 5007 points. The bronze medal was secured by Trinidad and Tobago’s Gianna Paul, with 4594 points.
Jermahd Huggins also came in for high praise as he just missed out on a podium spot in the Octathlon. He amassed 4813 points, just behind the bronze medallist from Bermuda, who had 4850.
Today, April 10, is the last day of competition at the Games.
