Minister of International Trade, Industry and Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas led the St. Kitts and Nevis delegation at the 58th Regular Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) in Georgetown, Guyana earlier this month.
Dr. Douglas was accompanied by the Director of Trade, Sean Lawrence.
The two day meeting, which began on 14th May, brought together trade ministers from across the region to discuss critical economic matters.
While in South America, Dr. Douglas engaged in discussions on various topics, including market access, trade facilitation, and regional integration.
“Their presence underscores St. Kitts and Nevis’ dedication to advancing economic cooperation within CARICOM. The minister’s participation reflects the federation’s commitment to promoting fair trade practices, sustainable development, and economic resilience,” said a government press statement.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Senator Paula Gopee-Scoon chaired the conference which was hosted by the CARICOM Secretariat.
The purpose of the COTED meetings is to foster collaboration, strengthen regional trade ties, and address pressing trade related challenges.
