AUS visitor to the Turks and Caicos Islands has become the country’s latest road fatality victim.
The deceased, whose name was not disclosed, is said to be 36 years old.
According to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force shortly after 2 am on Sunday, they received a report of a collision involving three vehicles on the Leeward Highway near Pratts Road.
Upon the arrival of officers and medical personnel, it was observed six persons had sustained injuries.
A female visitor to the island who was identified as a 36-year-old US citizen succumbed to her injuries.
Five other persons – four females and one male- were also involved and taken to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre (CHMC) for treatment. One of the injured, a female is listed in critical condition.
The police force has extended condolences to the families and friends affected by this tragic incident.
Investigations are continuing to determine the cause of the collision.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a man lost his life following a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as 41-year-old Reggie Dickenson of Grand Turk.
Initial police reports stated that shortly after 4 am on Saturday, the Police Control Room received a report of a motor vehicle accident along the Lower Bight Road, Providenciales.
Emergency Medical Technicians and police officers responded.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers noticed the driver was trapped inside a vehicle.
The victim was subsequently transported to the Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Officers have identified the deceased as 41-year-old Reggie Dickenson of Grand Turk
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force has extended condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased for their sudden loss.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the cause of this motor vehicle incident.
