Director of Sports, Jeffery Hazel, is calling the Department of Sports’ annual Summer Camp as a success.
The two week camp, which took place from 15th – 26th July, offered instruction in eight sports disciplines: football, cricket, basketball, netball, swimming, golf, table tennis, and volleyball.
The children participating were offered fun opportunities to learn each sport and play while being exposed to crucial values including the importance of discipline and positive lifestyle practices. Combined, these elements created the ideal environment for the holistic development of the children.
“Together, we created an unforgettable summer filled with sportsmanship, skill-building, and fun. We eagerly anticipate seeing everyone again next year for another exciting camp,” said Director Hazel.
Hazel also acknowledged the support of the stakeholders who made the camp possible, including the Department of Sports’ coaches, instructors and staff as well as the volunteers and parents who all played vital roles in creating a memorable experience for the children.
The camp aligns with the policies established by Minister of Sport, Samal Duggins, to address pressing concerns regarding the direct relationship between physical inactivity and non-communicable diseases.
Minister Duggins has taken the position that encouraging young people to engage in active lifestyles contributes to the broader goal of promoting the health and well-being of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
