The National Assembly is set to hold a special sitting on Wednesday, 6th November 2024, at 6:30 p.m., to honour the exceptional achievements of 25 young individuals who have shown outstanding commitment to community development and personal excellence in St. Kitts and Nevis.
This annual event, organised by the Department of Youth Empowerment, celebrates young people between the ages of 13 and 19 who have made significant contributions in fields such as the arts, sports, and innovation.
During this special session, Junior Minister of Youth, Senator Isalean Phillip, will deliver a statement underscoring the importance of youth leadership in the Federation.
Each of the 25 awardees, selected for their exemplary achievements, will be celebrated through video profiles, followed by an award presentation by members of the National Assembly.
Nominees for this prestigious programme must meet strict criteria, demonstrating proven accomplishments in their respective fields, as well as a history of community contribution. Successful nominees will then participate in a 12-month capacity-building and community service programme designed to deepen their leadership skills. Throughout the year, these young leaders are required to attend developmental workshops and initiate two volunteer projects, allowing them to give back directly to their communities and grow as future leaders.
This highly anticipated event not only recognises youth achievement but also underscores the Drew administration’s continued committment to supporting youth empowerment and leadership development. The award programme aims to inspire young people across St. Kitts and Nevis, encouraging them to take active roles in building a bright future for themselves and their communities.
The 25 Most Remarkable Teens in St. Kitts and Nevis initiative was introduced in 2011 by the government, then led by former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, and was stewarded by the late Minister of Youth, Glenn Phillip.
