Tourism Investments Drive Growth and Immediate Returns in St. Kitts and Nevis

Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew has reported that his administration’s strategic investments in the tourism sector are already yielding impressive returns. Following the successful conclusion of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival, Sugar Mas 53, and the Christmas festivities, the prime minister revealed high occupancy rates for several hotels, indicating a robust demand for the destination.

“The St. Kitts Marriott is over 90% occupied; the Park Hyatt is over 90%; the Royal St. Kitts Hotel is over 90%; and the Koi Hotel is over 80%,” Dr. Drew disclosed.

These figures underscore the increasing appeal of St. Kitts and Nevis as a leading Caribbean destination, particularly during the festive season.

Dr. Drew highlighted that these positive outcomes align with his administration’s vision to “power progress” by revitalising the tourism sector, a vital component of the nation’s economy.

While it will be some time before a comprehensive economic impact assessment is completed, preliminary indicators show significant benefits from the Carnival and Christmas celebrations. Thousands of returning nationals and visitors participated in the lively festivities, while cruise passengers contributed to the influx of tourists who enjoyed memorable Carnival experiences.

The tourism momentum has been further strengthened by increased airlift and inaugural cruise ship calls to the Federation. St. Kitts and Nevis is on track to welcome over one million cruise passengers during this cruise season, reinforcing its status as a premier Caribbean destination.

Dr. Drew noted that these results validate his administration’s strategic initiatives to enhance the visitor experience and promote St. Kitts and Nevis as a hub for culture, relaxation, and adventure.

Minister of Tourism Marsha Henderson and her team continue to implement an enticing tourism agenda, aiming to fuel sustained economic growth and enrich local communities.
