When you reach Bradmore Lane on your left turn left and head west following the lane. There will be steps to your right which you should walk up and onto the concrete drive to reach Hollycross Road. On this great pub walk you can choose between the long route of five miles, or the short route of two miles. You begin by Hatfield train station and end at Brookmans Park station, so it is a great route if you want to leave the car at home. Retrace your path through the pits and about 50 yards before the footbridge, bear right onto a path up to the infill ridge and site of Park Street Roman Villa. Follow this path, which is an extension of the Chiltern Way, as it heads north-east until it reaches Whitwell Road. Follow the path northeast through several fields, before you reach Stagg Hill, where you continue across the road onto a footpath heading to The Ridgeway and then past the M25. Its very peaceful through the well maintained forest areas and the village of Aldbury is delightful. Follow this path for one mile until you reach steps down to Sheepcote Lane and head back under the underpass. Here, there are stunning views of rural Hertfordshire for you to enjoy. Ashridge Estate. The five-and-a-half mile route begins and ends in Wadesmill, where you might be able to enjoy a well-deserved pint. Some of the walks also end up at a pub which makes them perfect for a sunny day.
