The St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank sponsored Charles E Mills Secondary School (CEMSS) is the 2023 TDC Track and Field Interschool Champion. After three days of competition, the athletes from CEMSS won a total of 35 gold medals, to clinch the title.
The CEMSS Eagles hoisted the winning trophy after an official handing over ceremony that featured the Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Minister with responsibility for Sport, Hon. Samal Duggins; Chairman of the TDC Board of Directors Earle Kelly and the President of SKN Athletics, Delwayne Delaney.
This is the 27th time in the 42-year history of the meet that the Eagles have raised the championship. Dating back to 2014, the Eagles have won the title seven consecutive times. Owing to the Corona virus pandemic, there were no meets from 2020 to 2022.
In total, the CEMSS Eagles amassed 66 medals, inclusive of 19 silver and 12 bronze.
The second place school was the Charlestown Secondary School. That school tallied 27 gold medals, while giving excellent representation from Nevis.
The Basseterre High School and the Verchilds High School were third and fourth, respectively.
The other competing schools were the Saddlers Secondary, the Gingerland Secondary, the Washington Archibald High, the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College and the Cayon High.
“We are extremely proud to be the sponsor for this premier athletics championship in St. Kitts and Nevis for 42 years. Seemingly, CEMSS would have devised a formula for winning but we are confident that the other schools are going to create their own recipe for success and we are looking even more competitive action in the coming editions,” the TDC Chairman stated.
The TDC Track and Field Interschool Championship is one of the biggest events on the sporting calendar for St. Kitts and Nevis.
