Eye Ophthalmic Microscope

The Joseph N France General Hospital now has an Eye Ophthalmic Microscope, a major piece of equipment that is required to provide high contrast and detailed imaging of all parts of the eye. The procurement of this microscope is in line with plans to resume eye surgery procedures, at the health institution.

Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, was able to see the new piece of equipment during an organized tour of the Ophthalmology Unit yesterday, March 27. He was accompanied on the tour by Dr. Jenson Morton, Director of Health Institutions and Lindsey Maynard, Director of Operations in the Ministry of Health.

The Health Minister disclosed that the procurement of the microscope is a significant step taken by his administration to improve the overall delivery of healthcare and described the apparatus as “a significant part of the equipment that is needed for eye surgeries.”

Prime Minister Drew further outlined that his government plans to fully outfit the entire unit, in short order, to facilitate surgical procedures such as removal and treatment of cataracts.
