The majority of Team St. Kitts and Nevis is in the Bahamas for the 50th edition of the CARIFTA Games. The contingent reads as follows: Shamarie Newton, William Sharpe, Jermahd Huggins, Jelani Johnson, Alexander Caines, Aldrett Nisbett, Stephan Balson, Ashaun Wilkinson, Cacious Mason, T’anna Liburd, Trishanie Warner, Jahzara Claxton, Mikayla Gumbs, Gianna Phipps, Chesson Liburd, Akanye Samuels Jaylen Bennett, Kenron Freeman, Leon Thompson Jr., De’cheynelle Thomas and Kaliyah Jones.
The athletes are accompanied by Head Coach Kurvin Wallace, Assistant Coaches Dwayne Warner and Roatter Johnson and Team Manager Clytie Gilbert.
The Golden Jubilee CARIFTA Track & Field Championship will be held from April 8-10, at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium, in New Providence. Approximately 600 athletes from 28 Caribbean countries are competing in the event.
The full contingent is expected to be together by the end of day, April 7.
The athletes will be competing in a number short, middle and long distance track events and field events, inclusive of high jump, long jump, javelin throw and the heptathlon.
Since the inception of the Games in 1972, St. Kitts and Nevis has tallied 5 gold medals. This year’s contingent plans to increase this tally and produce a number of personal bests.
