PM Drew attends World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. Terrance Drew, is in Washington D.C. for the Word Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings 2023, which is being held from April 10-15.

The World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings of the Boards of Governors bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, legislators, business executives, members of civil society organizations, and academics to discuss global issues such as the outlook for the world economy, the fight against poverty, economic development, and the efficacy of aid.

Among issues to be discussed at this year’s Spring Meeting are climate finance and country climate partnerships, Commonwealth event on innovative financing initiatives for effective debt restructuring solutions, unlocking financing opportunities and development potential of key transport corridors in Africa and responding to crisis: strengthening food systems for improving lives.

Prime Minister Drew is accompanied by Naeemah Hazelle, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office; and Versilie Francis, Director, Fiscal Affairs & Policy in the Ministry of Finance.

Additionally, Prime Minister Drew will be host a Diaspora Meeting with Kittitians and Nevisians who live in the Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) on April 15, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The meeting will take place at the Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis, 3216 New Mexico Ave NW, Washington, D.C.

Following his Washington D.C. engagements, the Prime Minister will immediately travel to Trinidad and Tobago, on April 16, for the CARICOM Symposium on Crime and Violence, in his capacity as Minister of National Security.

During Prime Minister Drew’s absence from the country, Hon. Konris Maynard is Acting Prime Minister.
