A fourth murder in less than a 48 hour span has amplified calls for an even stronger social stance against crime and violence. The killing of another young man, Vaughan Parris, just before 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon (June 6), around the basketball court area, in Dorsett, Basseterre, has incensed the public.
The young man, from the Market Street area, was shot and killed minutes before a scheduled address to the nation by Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, to denounce the recent upsurge in violent crimes.
The circumstances surrounding this latest homicide are still unclear but Police are continuing their investigations.
The Police have also scheduled a press conference for today, June 7, to outline plans of action to tackle the crime and violence.
There will be more on this as details emerge.
