Police are imploring motorists to adhere to traffic regulations, especially speeding controls, in the wake of at least two fatalities that were as a result of traffic accidents.
The Police High Command say they are ‘deeply concerned with the unusually high number of traffic accidents on St. Kitts and Nevis.’ The lawmen also expressed their sadness with the loss of life.
“On June 21, Kenrick T. Phillip of Stonefort Estate was severely injured in a traffic accident in Conyers, St. Kitts. He subsequently sought overseas medical attention. Regrettably, his injuries proved too severe and he succumbed to his injuries on July 2,” a Police released detailed.
In a second incident, Joneal Sprouse passed away on July 3, after succumbing to injuries he sustained in a July 1 accident. The accident occurred in the vicinity of the solar farm, on the Frigate Bay Road.
“During the course of our investigations into traffic accidents this year and others past, driving at excessively high speeds has repeatedly been identified as their main cause. Coming in at a close second is driving without due care and attention. We continue to implore drivers and motorists to exercise adequate vigilance and extreme care while driving,” the Police statement revealed.
The Police have also pledged more presence within various communities in an effort to underscore safety and security.
