Police have confirmed a fatality in relation to a fire in Wades Garden, Basseterre, earlier this morning, August 21. The deceased has been identified as 91-year old Devorita Weekes.
The Fire and Rescue Services responded to a fire emergency alert just before 3 a.m. Upon arrival at the scene, the firemen immediately proceeded to control and extinguish a fire that engulfed a dwelling house, according to the Police.
However, the charred body of the deceased was discovered in what was the living room area of the house, once the fire was extinguished.
The Fire and Rescue Services and the Police are continuing their investigations to determine the cause of the blaze.
