Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKN SOURCE) — Dr. Lishaw Ward, a Kittitian, has joined the medical staff of the Joseph N. France General Hospital as an anaesthetist.
“I have had the privilege to serve my country as a medical professional in the past and I have also been able to appreciate the strengths, complexities, challenges and opportunities in health in other countries as well as my own,” Dr Ward said in an interview with SKN SOURCE on Monday (Sept. 11).
She added that “this experience has been extremely beneficial for me and allows me to bring perspective and a systems thinking approach to develop effective action and enable positive transformation for the nation’s health service.”
Dr. Ward was previously the Director of Medical Services at the Health Authority of Anguilla and worked in anesthesia at the JNF General Hospital. Dr. Ward is a highly qualified professional who earned her Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences in 1993 from the University of the West Indies in Mona, Jamaica. At that university, she later followed a career in medicine, earning Bachelor Degrees in Medicine and Surgery in 1998, and then specializing in Anesthesia in 2004.
Dr. Ward has over 18 years of expertise in Anesthesia and Critical Care and is capable of providing evidence-based medicine and competent clinical management to all patients in her care. She has had the honor of serving in a number of different regional and international jurisdictions, including Antigua and Anguilla, as well as the United Kingdom.
