Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKNSOURCE) – In a brazen incident that unfolded on
the evening of Saturday, September 9th, a 24-year-old male was shot and
tragically killed in the parking lot of a local cinema, leaving the community in
shock and grief.
Dead is Deondre Browne alias “Bush” of New Road, St. Kitts.
Sometime between 11:00 PM and 11:30 PM, local law enforcement
authorities were alerted to the scene after receiving multiple reports of
gunshots fired in the vicinity of Caribbean Cinemas, located in Buckley’s,
Basseterre.
Upon arriving at the scene, emergency responders discovered the lifeless
body of the victim. Authorities cordoned off the area and launched a
thorough investigation to determine the motive behind this heinous crime.
According to the police, preliminary investigation suggests that Browne was
walking through the parking lot when two armed gunmen opened fire on
him, striking him several times about the body.
Browne succumbed to his injuries on the scene and was pronounced dead by
the District Medical Officer.
Witnesses described hearing several loud bangs, followed by panic and
confusion echoing throughout the area.
As authorities work assiduously to uncover the truth, local officials and
community leaders are joining hands to address growing concerns about
public safety.
Browne’s murder takes the homicide toll to twenty (20) for the year 2023.
