PM Drew Optimistic for Last Quarter

Basseterre, St. Kitts (SKNSOURCE): Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew says
the nation will have a great fourth quarter thanks to considerable expenditures in
capital projects and an anticipated uptick in the tourism industry. According to PM
Drew, there will still be about $200 million invested in capital projects before the
year is out, showing that efforts to promote economic growth and development are
ongoing.
“There is $200 million in capital projects to be spent this year…So this last quarter
when we have finally put all these things together, we will have Tourism hitting,
the construction sector hitting and we will also have the area of financial services
and so forth hitting so we are in for an excellent last quarter,” the Prime Minister
stated.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come as the government’s focus shifts towards
enhancing infrastructure and generating employment opportunities.
Dr. Drew revealed that the groundbreaking ceremony for the long-awaited housing
revolution is scheduled to take place this coming Monday, signaling a major step
towards addressing the housing needs of the population.
PM Drew stated his optimism regarding the development of jobs in the sector,
anticipating a spike in housing construction. He anticipates that the initiative will
lead to several job vacancies in the construction sector, giving the labour market a
much-needed boost. As a result of the government’s commitment to fostering the
housing revolution, residents can anticipate more employment prospects.
“They can expect more construction activity as we now are going to do the
groundbreaking for the housing project,” PM Drew added.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized that the tourism sector is poised to
experience a significant boost in the remaining quarter. PM Drew predicts a seven
to ten percent increase in hotel occupancy rates. This anticipated growth in tourism
bodes well for the economy, as it generates revenue, creates jobs, and promotes the
country’s image as a desirable tourist destination.
“We have prepared for the tourist season. Expect an increase in Tourism compared
to last year… more activity, more jobs, more opportunities”, Dr. Drew said.

The government’s commitment to strengthening the economy, alongside the
various ongoing projects, underscores PM Drew’s determination to improve the
quality of life for the citizens.
