Ministry of Health building cooperative relationship with St. Martin Medical Centre

The Ministry of Health hosted a four-member delegation from the St. Martin Medical Centre (SMMC) earlier this week.

“This visit marks a significant step towards strengthening the healthcare collaboration between our federation and the esteemed medical facility,” a statement from the ministry said on Thursday.

While in St. Kitts, the SMMC team engaged in discussions with senior hospital and ministry staff which centred on opportunities for cooperation, networking, and capacity building for clinical staff.

“These discussions are expected to pave the way for enhanced medical services and shared expertise, ultimately benefiting the citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis,” the Ministry of Health disclosed.

Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Curtis Martin, expressed his enthusiasm for the potential avenues of cooperation and highlighted the importance of the visit.

“The exchange of knowledge and expertise with St. Martin Medical Centre is invaluable. We look forward to developing deeper and more meaningful collaborations that will enhance our healthcare system and benefit our clinical staff,” he said.

“By working together with SMMC, we can significantly improve patient outcomes. Sharing best practices and advancing our medical knowledge will lead to better, more effective treatments for our people. This partnership represents a commitment to excellence in healthcare for St. Kitts and Nevis.”

The Ministry of Health noted that it is “committed to exploring further opportunities for cooperation with St. Martin Medical Centre” as the visit “signifies the beginning of what is hoped to be a long-lasting and mutually beneficial partnership”.
