The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis, under the leadership of Prime Minister Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, continues to strengthen partnerships with local, regional, and international bodies as the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season approaches. The Government has successfully negotiated to host the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Annual Hurricane Season Press Conference in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
CDEMA is a regional inter-governmental agency responsible for disaster management within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), encompassing nineteen (19) Participating States: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Cayman Islands, Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Republic of Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the Virgin Islands.
The Annual Atlantic Hurricane Season Press Conference will take place on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, at 10:00 am in the St. Lucia Meeting Room at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort. This event is strategically scheduled ahead of the major Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) Conference, which is projected for December this year in Saint Kitts and Nevis. The CDM Conference is expected to draw over 400 disaster management practitioners and stakeholders from around the globe.

CDM is an integrated and proactive approach to disaster management, aiming to reduce the risk and loss associated with natural and technological hazards and the effects of climate change, thereby enhancing regional sustainable development.
