St. Kitts’ Mikyle Louis scored his maiden Test half century on Sunday, but it was not enough to deny host, England, a 3- 0 whitewash of the visiting West Indies side in the third Rothesay test match at Edgbaston.
England won by 10 wickets.
The West Indies made 282 in their first innings and crumbled to 175 in the second. England made 376 in their first innings and then raced to 87, without loss, to quickly reach their target for victory.
Earlier, Louis showed tremendous resilience as he batted doggedly to a West Indies second innings best of 57. He withstood the relentless England attack that had his side at 53-3.
Ultimately, however, he folded with a soft dismissal off the bowling of Ben Stokes.
The only other West Indies batter who provided significant resistance was Kavem Hodge, who made a contribution of 55 runs.
Louis’ maiden half century came in the third and final match, and sixth innings of the Test series, in what turned out to be a very trying encounter against the English.
The star of England’s second innings response was Ben Stokes, who withstood the West Indies’ bowling onslaught to make 57, not out, off just 28 balls to claim the record of having made England’s fastest Test half century.
Mark Wood had earlier been the pick of the English bowlers by capturing of 5 wickets for 40 runs.
