CXC joins Ministry of Education in debunking rumours of withheld results for SKN students

The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) has refuted rumours that it is withholding results for St. Kitts and Nevis candidates who sat the May-June 2024 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations, over any failure of the Ministry of Education to meet its financial obligations to CXC.

In an official statement, CXC confirmed that St. Kitts and Nevis has fulfilled its payment obligations on behalf of its students.

“The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) wishes to clarify that no results are being withheld for any St. Kitts and Nevis candidates, who sat the May-June 2024 Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination® (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations,” the CXC release clarified.

“CXC stands ready to work with the Kittitian/Nevisian Education Authorities to resolve any challenges pertaining to ungraded subjects and outstanding results among these students,” the release continued.

Dr. Wayne Wesley, CXC Registrar and CEO, acknowledged the concerns expressed by students and parents and reassured that CXC will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Education in St. Kitts and Nevis to resolve any outstanding issues swiftly.

The statement follows the St. Kitts and Nevis Ministry of Education’s denouncement of claims that CXC withheld exam results due to non-payment. The Ministry emphasized that St. Kitts and Nevis has maintained a “sterling record” of on-time payments to CXC.

CXC officially released the 2024 CSEC and CAPE results to all territories, including St. Kitts and Nevis, on August 20, 2024. Students in the Federation were able to immediately access their electronic preliminary slip (e-Preslip), a digital statement of their preliminary results, allowing for access to higher education or employment while awaiting their final certificates.
