St. Kitts and Nevis Joins Global Security Dialogue at INTERPOL’s 92nd General Assembly in Glasgow

St. Kitts and Nevis is actively participating in the 92nd INTERPOL (International Criminal Police Organisation) General Assembly, held in Glasgow from 4th to 7th November, reinforcing its commitment to global security and international police cooperation. Represented by Commissioner of Police James Sutton and Assistant Commissioner James Francis, the Federation joins law enforcement leaders from around the world to address urgent security challenges and advancements in policing.

This year’s General Assembly serves as a crucial platform for international collaboration, where participants exchange strategies and expertise on critical security issues. The agenda focuses heavily on the role of emerging technologies in law enforcement, with discussions spanning biometric tools, artificial intelligence in policing, multilateral security frameworks, and future leadership in law enforcement. These topics underscore the vital importance of global cooperation in adapting to evolving technological landscapes and complex security threats.

On 5th November, INTERPOL announced the election of Brazilian police official Valdecy Urquiza as its next Secretary-General. Urquiza, currently INTERPOL’s Vice President for the Americas, becomes the first leader from outside Europe or the United States to head the organisation, marking a historic move towards inclusive global leadership. His election underscores INTERPOL’s commitment to diverse perspectives in advancing security initiatives worldwide.

In addition to appointing a new Secretary-General, the General Assembly will also elect nine members to INTERPOL’s Executive Committee, whose terms are concluding. These selections will influence INTERPOL’s leadership, guiding the organisation’s operations and global initiatives over the coming years. Delegates will further vote on INTERPOL’s 2025 programme and budget, setting a framework for cooperation in data management, governance, and partnerships that support modern policing needs.

St. Kitts and Nevis aims to deepen its engagement within the international law enforcement community, leveraging new technological insights and strengthening its role in shared intelligence networks and collective security frameworks.
