Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, who also represents Constituency #8, has announced an ambitious plan to rejuvenate the town of Cayon, pledging to reverse years of neglect and reinstate its prominence as a thriving community.
The comprehensive development plan focuses on three core areas: infrastructure renewal, economic revitalisation, and environmental sustainability. It aims to address the socio-economic challenges Cayon has faced due to the removal of essential services such as the post office and healthcare facilities by previous administrations.
“Cayon has been overlooked for far too long,” Dr. Drew said during an appearance on Freedom FM’s Issues. “Our government is determined to restore its vibrancy and provide the infrastructure and respect it rightly deserves.”
Key Initiatives
The development plan includes transformative projects designed to improve the lives of residents:
- Infrastructure Renewal: The community centre will be refurbished to serve as a hub for social and cultural activities. Plans also include substantial investments in healthcare facilities to ensure residents have convenient access to quality medical services.
- Economic Revitalisation: The government is actively working to attract financial institutions to Cayon, addressing the absence of banking services while promoting local business growth and creating job opportunities.
- Environmental Sustainability: In line with the administration’s commitment to global environmental goals, Cayon is set to become a landfill-free zone. Recycling initiatives and educational campaigns will be introduced to promote sustainable waste management practices and preserve the town’s natural environment.

Prime Minister Drew underscored the vital role of residents in the success of the development projects.
“We are not just constructing buildings; we are nurturing a community. The people of Cayon are central to this transformation, and their active involvement is essential,” he said.
