St. Kitts and Nevis will host the 28th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of National Security and Law Enforcement under the auspices of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on 28th–29th November 2024. The meeting, which underscores the region’s dedication to addressing security challenges, will be chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, who also serves as the Federation’s Minister of National Security, Citizenship, and Immigration.
The discussions will centre on strengthening regional collaboration to combat transnational crime, which remains a pressing concern for CARICOM member states.
Agenda items include improving intelligence sharing, enhancing border security, and updating legislative frameworks to create a cohesive and robust response to criminal threats.
Prime Minister Drew highlighted the importance of a united approach by the region, stating, “Our collective security depends on our ability to work together and share resources, information, and best practices. This meeting reflects our shared commitment to safeguarding our citizens and creating a safer Caribbean.”
The meeting forms part of CARICOM’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and stability of its member nations while addressing the complexities of cross-border criminal activities. The outcomes are expected to bolster regional strategies and fortify the collective capacity to combat transnational crime effectively.
This initiative reaffirms the Federation’s role as a key player in fostering regional security and strengthening CARICOM’s cooperative framework.
