The Kaohsiung Meets Saint Kitts and Nevis: Global Student Partnership Programme brought together 27 nationals of Saint Kitts and Nevis with 31 Taiwanese students for a two-day cultural and educational exchange on 23rd and 24th November. Held in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, the initiative aims to strengthen ties between the sister cities under the agreement signed by Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Mayor Chen Chi-mai earlier this year.
Organised by the St. Kitts and Nevis Embassy in Taiwan and the Kaohsiung City government, the programme featured cultural exploration, collaborative activities, and vibrant performances.
St. Kitts and Nevis’ Ambassador to Taiwan, His Excellency Donya Francis, during the opening ceremony, commended the collaboration, saying, “We are celebrating the power of connection and the shared aspirations of our youth.”
Participants enjoyed a diverse itinerary, including city tours, historical site visits, a yacht cruise, and interactive workshops. Highlights included a folklore performance by Saint Kitts and Nevis nationals and a presentation showcasing the country’s rich heritage.
The event underscored the importance of cross-cultural engagement, with discussions underway to make the programme an annual tradition, fostering deeper connections and mutual growth.
