Fishing Vessel Inspection and Licensing Period Begins for 2025

The Department of Marine Resources has announced the commencement of the 2025 fishing vessel inspection and licensing period, a critical exercise to ensure safety and regulatory compliance within St. Kitts and Nevis’ fisheries sector.

The annual process, which begins this week, requires all registered fishing vessel owners and captains to present their vessels for inspection at designated landing sites. The initiative not only enforces adherence to the Fisheries Regulations but also safeguards the well-being of fisherfolk and the sustainable management of marine resources.

Inspection Schedule for St. Kitts

  • 2nd–4th December: Basseterre East Landing Site
  • 5th–6th December: Basseterre West Landing Site
  • 9th–10th December: Old Road Fish Landing Site
  • 11th–13th December: Sandy Point Fish Landing Site
  • 16th–17th December: Dieppe Bay Fish Landing Site

Inspection Schedule for Nevis

  • 18th December: Jessups Fishers
  • 19th December: Cotton Ground Fishers
  • 20th December: Jones Bay Fishers
  • 23rd December: New Castle Fishers
  • 24th December: Long Haul Bay Fishers
  • 27th December: Indian Castle Fishers
  • 30th December: Charlestown Fishers

Inspections will be conducted daily from 9 am to 12 pm. Vessel owners are encouraged to adhere to the schedule to avoid disruptions and ensure continued eligibility for fishing operations.
