During a landmark engagement on 5th December 2024, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis introduced the winning logo for its Citizen Security initiative. The announcement came during the “Beyond the 90 Days” forum, which spotlighted the outcomes of the recently concluded 90-Day Campaign Against Crime and Violence. The campaign, framed within a public health strategy, emphasised collaboration across communities to address the root causes of crime.
Latrelle Warner, whose inspiring design emerged as the top entry among 17 submissions from 12 participants, shared insights into his inspiration.
“The concept was built around ensuring every resident feels secure,” Warner explained. His design, titled “Citizen Security: Partnership for Safer Communities – Together, We Can!”, integrates national symbols and elements that convey togetherness and care.
The centrepiece features the nation’s flag, underscoring the importance of a collective national effort. “The inclusion of interlinked figures symbolises teamwork,” Warner added. “The hearts remind us that empathy and love are essential in building a safer society.”
Warner expressed a deep commitment to encouraging young people to explore creative fields like graphic design and videography. Reflecting on his win, he said, “I hope this serves as motivation for others in my community to showcase their talents and contribute positively.”
For his exceptional work, Warner received a cash prize of EC $1,000. Tiffani Browne and Shamire Allen, who were first and second runners-up respectively, were also awarded cash prizes for their noteworthy submissions.
The logo will serve as a lasting emblem of the Citizen Security Secretariat. It embodies the government’s ongoing commitment to fostering community partnerships aimed at reducing crime and promoting social harmony.
The forum’s organisers highlighted the logo as a visual reminder of the success achieved during the 90-Day Campaign and its continuation under the broader national framework of citizen security. According to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police force, homicides decreased by 66 percent during the 90-Day Campaign when compared to the previous 90-day period. Fifty-nine less crimes were reported in the Federation during the same periods.
