Authorities have confirmed that Rey was reported missing prior to the discovery. Police began a search operation in areas he was known to frequent, which ultimately led to the location of his parked passenger bus on Coury Hill, near Bird Rock.
Nearby, officers found Rey lying unresponsive in a grassy area near his vehicle. Medical professionals pronounced him dead at the scene.
