In a dazzling display of talent, grace, and poise, Soriah Williams-Powell of Verchilds High School captured the prestigious title of Republic Bank Miss Teen St. Kitts and Nevis 2024 on Tuesday, 17th December. The night was nothing short of spectacular as six talented young ladies competed for the crown during one of Sugar Mas’s most anticipated events.
With 692 points, Soriah stole the show, earning top marks in three judged segments: Best Personality and Achievement Speech, Best Costume, and Best Formal Teenage Wear. Her winning streak didn’t stop there; she also walked away with the Miss Amity, Miss Photogenic, and Social Media awards.
Stellar Performances Across the Board
The competition was fierce, with every contestant bringing their best to the stage. Lajunique Boone of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School was crowned First Runner-Up with 684 points, along with the Chairperson’s Award. Meanwhile, De’Sheyniah Charles from Cayon High School secured Second Runner-Up, winning accolades for Best On-Stage Interview and Best Performing Talent, amassing 666 points.
The remaining contestants—Kylah Gerald (Saddlers Secondary), Eushadika Frances (Basseterre High), and Jonesh Rogers (Washington Archibald High)—also delivered breathtaking performances, reflecting their dedication and creativity.
Stories that Touched Hearts
This year’s pageant went beyond the glitz and glamour, diving into deeply moving narratives. Several contestants used their talents to spotlight critical social issues, including the personal toll of violence, abuse, human trafficking and the loss of loved ones. These performances resonated powerfully with the audience, shedding light on the resilience of the Federation’s youth.
A Proud Moment for Verchilds High
The victory was especially sweet for the Verchilds High community. Samal Duggins, Minister of Festivals and the Creative Economy and Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #4, celebrated the return of the crown to his alma mater.
“Congratulations to the newly crowned Republic Bank Miss Teen St. Kitts and Nevis, Soriah Williams-Powell,” he said. “Representing the BEST school in the multiverse, Verchilds High School, you brought the fire and made us all so proud! Your victory was well-deserved, and your performance was nothing short of spectacular.”
Minister Duggins also commended all participants for their remarkable efforts, applauding their courage, creativity, and poise.
A Night to Remember
The pageant once again proved why it remains a highlight of Sugar Mas. With a sold-out venue and hundreds tuning in via social media, this year’s edition raised the bar for future competitions.
Reflecting on the event’s success, Minister Duggins remarked, “This sold-out show was truly one for the history books, showcasing the immense talent and grace of our nation’s youth. Kudos to all the participants for an unforgettable night!”
