Barbados: Man in custody following police chase

Aman and his vehicle is in custody following a police chase which occured in the vicinity of Cowell Street, Bridgetown, on Monday, January 20, 2025.

According to The Barbados Police Service (TBPS), police were conducting a traffic operation in the area when “there was a series of events” which led to the pursuit of a vehicle. TBPS said during the pursuit, police had reason to fire shots, however, no injuries were reported. 

TBPS further denied that officers were shot during the incident. Police said:

“Please note that there is misinformation pertaining to a shooting incident earlier today stating that police personnel were shot at during an incident earlier at Cowell Street, Bridgetown. This has been circulated on social media and by word of mouth. Please note that this is not factual.”
