Anguilla: Shooting claims the life of man, 29, investigations underway

The Royal Anguilla Police Force has confirmed the death of a 29-year-old man following a shooting incident at Hill Side Bar in South Hill.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight today when police received reports of gunfire at the popular Back Street location.

The victim has been identified as Omarí Roberts, a resident of the British Virgin Islands. Roberts arrived on Anguilla just three days prior, on February 14. Authorities are still piecing together the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In response to the shooting, police have closed off the section of road near Hill Side Bar to all traffic while an investigation is underway.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear.

The Royal Anguilla Police Force has appealed to the public for any information that could aid in their investigation. “We are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area to come forward. Any information, no matter how small, may assist in our ongoing investigation,” the police said.
