Cyber Nations Programme to Strengthen SKN’s Cybersecurity Workforce

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has launched the Cyber Nations Programme, a new initiative aimed at training local citizens in cybersecurity to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the field. The programme, officially introduced on 18th February, 2025, is being delivered in partnership with Protexxa, a Canadian cybersecurity firm, and seeks to enhance digital security and workforce development in the twin-island federation.

The initiative comes in response to increasing global cyber threats and the need for a well-trained workforce to protect digital infrastructure. With businesses, governments, and individuals facing rising cybersecurity risks, the programme is designed to provide technical training, globally recognised certification, and job placement opportunities for participants.

Government Support and Financial Assistance

To make the programme accessible, the government has committed XCD $10,200.00 in scholarships per participant, with an additional XCD $10,200.00 student loan option available through the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis. This financial support covers the full cost of the training.

Who Can Apply?

The Cyber Nations Programme is open to unemployed citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis aged 18 and over. Applicants must meet basic literacy requirements, provide a clean police record, and complete the application process. Priority will be given to participants in the Skills Training Empowerment Programme (STEP).

A Growing Industry with Global Opportunities

Cybersecurity has emerged as one of the fastest-growing career fields worldwide. The programme offers hands-on training in cyber defence, risk management, and related areas, equipping participants with the skills needed to work in the industry. Successful graduates will receive a certificate from a Canadian post-secondary institution and placement in a paid, 12-month cybersecurity analyst role.

With the growing emphasis on remote work, the initiative also positions participants to access employment opportunities beyond St. Kitts and Nevis, contributing to national workforce development while addressing the global cybersecurity talent gap.

The government has encouraged eligible individuals to apply as soon as possible, as spaces are limited. Applications can be submitted online at Cyber Nations SKN.
