
On Friday, February 28, 2025, police officers from the Gang, Narcotics and Firearms Unit of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) conducted a two-phase exercise within the northern policing division.
During the patrols in Castries, 36 individuals were searched. Quantities of controlled drugs were recovered in various shops on Jeremie Street, Castries. A Warrant to Search for Property was executed at Liberation bar located at the corner of Carl Crescent Street and Jeremie Street, Castries, leading to the recovery of the following items:
· 245 grams of Cannabis
· 178 grams of Cannabis Resin
· XCD 3852.00 and USD 153.00 in cash.
The following individuals were arrested in connection with these recoveries:
1. Earland Charles of Carille, Castries. (Proprietor)
2. Darren Jason Charles of La Clery, Castries.
3. Daniell Didier of Ravine Chabot, Castries.
Investigations led to Warrants to Search for Property being executed at the residences of each suspect. The search conducted at the premises of Darran Jason Charles resulted in the discovery and seizure of 21 rounds of .380 ammunition. Darran Jason Charles was subsequently charged with Possession of Ammunition. All three suspects received individual charges for Possession of Controlled Drugs (Cannabis), Possession of Cannabis Resin, and Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply.
On Monday, March 3, 2025, Earland Charles, Darran Jason Charles and Daniell Didier were escorted to the First District Court, where they made bail applications.
Earland Charles and Daniell Didier were each granted bail for the following offences:
· Possession of Controlled Drugs, bail granted in the sum of XCD 2000.00
· Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply, bail granted in the sum of XCD 3000.00
· Possession of Cannibis Resin, bail granted in the sum of XCD 3000.00
· Possession of Cannibis Resin with Intent to Supply, bail granted in the sum of XCD 7000.00
Darren Charles was granted bail for the following offences:
· Possession of Controlled Drugs, bail granted in the sum of XCD 1500.00
· Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply, bail was granted in the sum of XCD 2400.00
· Possession of Cannabis Resin with Intent to Supply, bail granted in the sum of XCD 5000.00
· Possession of Ammunition, bail was granted in the sum of XCD 8000
Inquiries also revealed that, prior to these latest charges, Earland Charles was charged in November 2024 with offences related to drug possession. These matters are currently before the lower court.
