Schools across Nevis are taking a powerful stand today against crime and violence as part of the Day of Interruption – Nevis Edition, an initiative spearheaded by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Citizen Security Secretariat in cooperation with the Nevis Island Administration.

In assemblies held in primary and secondary educational institutions, students, teachers, and community leaders have joined forces to create a unified voice of hope, strength, and positive change.
Coordinator of the Citizen Security Secretariat, Eartha Carey, underscored the importance of this initiative, stating, “The Day of Interruption is more than just a symbolic pause; it is an urgent call for all of us to reaffirm our commitment to fostering safer communities. Our children deserve to grow up in an environment free from fear, and this campaign is about empowering them with positive influences and support.”
Throughout the morning, students will engage with inspiring community leaders, law enforcement officials, entertainers, and business professionals, all reinforcing the theme of breaking the cycle of crime and violence.
The Day of Interruption forms part of a broader national anti-crime and anti-violence campaign aimed at fostering a culture of peace and security across the Federation.

The highly successful St. Kitts edition of the initiative was held on 26th February, 2025.
