Times Caribbean, an admitted blog run by anonymous individuals with clear political affiliations, has retracted its defamatory article titled “MILLIONS MISSING? ANTIGUA’S PRIME MINISTER FACES HEAT OVER MEGAYACHT SALE MYSTERY”, published on 12th March, 2025. The platform, which masquerades as a legitimate news outlet, has once again been exposed for publishing misleading and unverified content.
The retraction comes after mounting pressure following the publication of false claims regarding Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, and the sale of the Alfa Nero yacht. Times Caribbean cited an Associated Press report by Dánica Coto as the source of their claims. However, they admitted to misinterpreting the facts and have since apologised for the harm caused to Browne’s reputation.
Despite the retraction, Browne remains resolute in his pursuit of legal action against the Associated Press, Times Caribbean, and other individuals he holds responsible for the defamatory statements. In a scathing social media post, Browne declared, “I shall now legally pursue Associated Press, Yulia, Gisele Isaac (UPP chairman) et al. I am looking forward to exploit this defamation with a hefty multi-million dollar compensation package.”

It is worth noting that Times Caribbean has a history of publishing false and politically unbalanced content. The blog, which is not registered as a legitimate business or news agency in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, operates under the guise of journalism while pushing a blatant anti-St. Kitts Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) agenda.

In 2024, Times Caribbean was forced to retract a similarly fabricated story that falsely claimed the St. Kitts and Nevis government mistakenly buried an individual without informing the family. The lie was swiftly debunked by SKN Source (Gov’t rejects click bait Times Caribbean “Wrong Body” article as “Fake News”), which published verified facts exposing the falsehood. Times Caribbean was left with no choice but to issue an apology to the Ministry of Health and Health Minister, Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, who were falsely implicated in the fabricated article.
Sources within the St. Kitts Nevis Inland Revenue Department have confirmed that Times Caribbean is not a registered entity within the Federation, further discrediting their legitimacy as a news agency.
Browne’s legal action aims to hold the platform accountable for its reckless reporting and serve as a warning to other politically biased outlets that seek to tarnish the reputations of public officials through deliberate misinformation.
