The ongoing commitment of the Labour Party Administration to revitalising the tourism sector continues to yield positive results, as St. Kitts and Nevis was awarded Destination of the Year – Hidden Treasures at the 25th Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) International Travel Awards in Berlin on 6th March.
Additionally, Minister of Tourism, Hon. Marsha Henderson, was honoured as the Woman Tourism Minister of the Year (Caribbean) at the prestigious event, which was held during the ITB Berlin Fair, one of the world’s largest travel and tourism trade expositions.
The ITB Berlin Fair brings together tourism ministers, diplomats, industry leaders, and global media representatives to discuss the future of travel and recognise excellence in the tourism and aviation industries.
The Labour administration has prioritised tourism growth and revitalisation, aligning with its broader vision to “power progress” in St. Kitts and Nevis. The tourism sector has seen increased airlift, a surge in cruise ship arrivals, and strong industry partnerships, positioning the Federation as a premier Caribbean destination.
The country is projected to welcome over one million cruise passengers this season.
Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew expressed his satisfaction with Minister Henderson’s efforts, explaining her absence from his administration’s 6th March press conference due to her engagements in the United Kingdom and Germany.
“She’s presently in the UK where she’s engaging in discussions to continue the advancement and upliftment of our tourism sector. She’s also engaging in discussions regarding our ship registry, and from all indications, all of the meetings are going extremely well,” Prime Minister Drew stated.
The Prime Minister praised Minister Henderson’s dedication and success, noting that her work is directly contributing to the exponential growth of the tourism industry.
“I’ve always said that the more she travels, the more boats and ships and planes and growth of tourism that we get. Her success is our success, as tourism continues to grow exponentially here in our Federation,” he added.
Minister of Tourism Hon. Marsha Henderson, and her team, continue to implement an appealing tourism agenda, with the aim of fuelling sustained economic growth and community enrichment.
