The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has launched a full-scale investigation following a deadly shooting that occurred on the night of 21st May, 2025, at Tuckett Street in Ponds Pasture. The incident, which took place around 9:16 p.m., has claimed the life of one man and left another hospitalised.
According to official reports, the shooting occurred at a local business establishment owned by 41-year-old Terrence Ritchen. Officers responded swiftly to reports of gunfire and also visited the Joseph N. France General Hospital, where two male victims were taken by private vehicle.
The victims have been identified as Ritchen himself and 38-year-old Recaldo Marsham of Godwin Ghaut. Preliminary investigations indicate that the two men had been socialising at the establishment when a lone gunman opened fire, striking both individuals before fleeing the scene.
Marsham succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. Ritchen sustained multiple gunshot wounds but was stabilised and admitted to the Surgical Ward in stable condition.
Authorities have secured Marsham’s body pending a formal autopsy. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials have assured the public that all available investigative resources are being deployed to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for this violent act.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. Members of the community can contact the nearest police station or use the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline.
This latest incident has raised renewed concerns about gun-related violence in the Federation, even as recent months have seen a decline in overall violent crime.
