Christophe Harbour Development Company, Ltd. has officially announced the sale of The Marina at Christophe Harbour to Safe Harbor Marinas, LLC, the world’s largest owner and operator of marinas. The landmark transaction, finalised with support from the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, positions the marina for significant expansion while allowing the Christophe Harbour community to continue evolving under its original stewardship.
The agreement, made between the Christophe Harbour Development Company — owned by the Darby Family and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis — and Safe Harbor Marinas, includes the marina assets and operations. All other components of the Christophe Harbour development, including residential neighbourhoods, luxury amenities, and ongoing infrastructure projects, will remain under the management of the original development company.
“This is a pivotal moment for Christophe Harbour,” said Charles Darby III, Founder and CEO of Christophe Harbour Development Company. “Our vision has always centred on quality, sustainability, and delivering an exceptional lifestyle experience. By entrusting the marina to a world-class operator that shares these values, we are enhancing the long-term prospects of the entire community.”
Safe Harbor Marinas plans to launch a major expansion project, upgrading the facility to accommodate superyachts up to 350 feet. The company aims to elevate the island’s profile in the global yachting market and broaden the scope of yachting services available in St. Kitts and Nevis.
“We are pleased to be able to serve the global fleet in this important region with an offering of such high quality,” said Baxter Underwood, CEO of Safe Harbor Marinas.
The transaction was made possible with the strong support of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis. Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew played an instrumental role in facilitating the deal and ensuring a smooth process for all parties.
Speaking on the development, Prime Minister Drew stated, “This transaction marks a new chapter in the transformation of St. Kitts and Nevis into a world-class destination for investment, luxury real estate, and maritime excellence. We welcome Safe Harbor Marinas and look forward to the opportunities this partnership with Christophe Harbour will unlock — from job creation and tourism growth to enhanced global visibility for our Federation.”
Prime Minister Drew reaffirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and partnerships that benefit the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Special recognition was also given to Hadiya Claxton, Special Envoy of the Federation, for her key role in guiding the transaction to completion. Her contributions, along with the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders, were acknowledged as vital to the success of the deal.
