The Ministry of Sports is set to host a landmark International Friendly Football Match between SKN Select and YAFA Nigeria this Friday, 30th May, 2025, at the Samuel Williams Sporting Complex in Verchilds. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30pm, and admission is free to the public.
The match is a centrepiece of the ongoing celebration of cultural and economic collaboration between St. Kitts and Nevis and Nigeria, held under the theme: “Two Nations, One Rhythm: Bridging Cultures, Building Futures.”

While promising an electrifying evening for football fans, the event is positioned as more than just a match—it is a powerful statement of sports diplomacy, community empowerment, and rural revitalisation.
“This game is part of our commitment to bring opportunities to the people where they live, whether in the capital or the countryside,” said Minister of Sports, Samal Duggins. “It’s about showing that rural communities are ready for the world stage.”
The event also supports the Ministry’s broader agenda of decentralising national activities, demonstrating that facilities like the Samuel Williams Sporting Complex are capable of hosting international events that promote both development and national pride.
The Ministry is extending a special invitation to youth organisations, community leaders, the media, and the entire football fraternity to attend and help shine a spotlight on this groundbreaking event. Attendees can expect a dynamic cultural exchange, community celebration, and an inspiring evening of football that underscores the role of sport in uniting people and nations.
This international match is anticipated to serve as a catalyst for further collaboration in sport, culture, and youth engagement between the two nations.
