St. Kitts and Nevis Signs Strategic MOU with CARIRI to Boost Innovation and Entrepreneurship

St. Kitts and Nevis has partnered with CARIRI in a landmark move to accelerate innovation, enterprise development, and regional collaboration. On 29th May, 2025, the Ministry of Small Business, Entrepreneurship, Cooperatives & the Creative Economy officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI), based in Trinidad and Tobago.

The MOU was formalised during a ceremonial signing between Permanent Secretary Delrine Taylor and CARIRI’s Chief Executive Officer, Hans-Erich Schulz. The agreement establishes a framework for mutual cooperation, focusing on key areas such as technical support, research and development, entrepreneurial training, joint project funding, and regional networking.

Mr. Schulz, commended the partnership, noting its value to both parties. “I look forward to growing and adding value to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, and to CARIRI’s technical base. This collaboration strengthens our ability to provide expertise and contribute meaningfully to your labour force so that the country can continue to grow and develop. Even though it is a small country, it has big impact,” he said.

Permanent Secretary Taylor expressed the Ministry’s appreciation and optimism. “We thank CARIRI for taking us along on this journey to grow and develop our MSME sector. We are eager to launch initiatives that support our entrepreneurs and build our economy,” she said.

Minister of Small Business, Samal Duggins, described the agreement as a significant milestone. “This MOU is a direct investment in our people, in our ideas, and in our economic future. It represents a bold leap forward for innovation and enterprise in St. Kitts and Nevis,” he affirmed.

The Ministry of Small Business, Entrepreneurship, Cooperatives & the Creative Economy reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a resilient entrepreneurial ecosystem. The partnership with CARIRI, a regional leader in applied research and technical innovation, is set to bring long-term benefits to local enterprises and the broader Caribbean community.
