The Public Works Department (PWD) of St. Kitts and Nevis has reported significant progress in strengthening national sports infrastructure during the first half of 2025, with major upgrades to the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium and the completion of the Conaree Football Stadium.
At a press briefing on 5th June, Deputy Director of the PWD, Xia Xiang Claxton, detailed the department’s recent accomplishments in support of national development and community wellness through sports.
One of the most impactful undertakings was the renovation of the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium. The facility now boasts a newly resurfaced athletic track and a refurbished seating area, ensuring a more comfortable and professional environment for athletes and spectators alike. The upgrades enhance the stadium’s capacity to host national and regional sporting events, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of athletic excellence on the island.

Additionally, Claxton announced the completion of the Conaree Football Stadium—an entirely new facility constructed under PWD’s oversight. She described the stadium as “thoughtfully designed to facilitate year-round training and events,” providing an inclusive space where players, coaches, and fans can come together in shared enthusiasm for the sport.
“These projects reflect our ongoing commitment to modernising infrastructure in ways that uplift and serve the people,” said Claxton, who emphasised that the upgrades are not just physical but contribute to social cohesion, national pride, and youth engagement.
The two major stadium projects form part of the government’s broader development agenda, aligning with efforts to provide world-class facilities for local and international sporting opportunities.
The Public Works Department reaffirmed its continued focus on delivering quality infrastructure that supports community well-being and positions St. Kitts and Nevis as a capable host for future sports tourism ventures.
