Skyla Connor to Represent St. Kitts and Nevis at 2025 World Aquatics Championships

St. Kitts and Nevis will once again make its mark on the global sporting stage as national swimmer Skyla Connor is set to compete at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. The prestigious meet, scheduled for 26th July to 3rd August, will feature elite swimmers from around the world, with 13-year-old Skyla proudly representing the Federation in the 50-metre freestyle and 50-metre breaststroke events.

Eldon Thomas, President of the St. Kitts Nevis Aquatics Federation (SKNAF), expressed immense pride in Skyla’s selection. “We are incredibly proud of Skyla and her commitment to representing our nation on the global stage. Her participation is an inspiration to our youth and a reflection of the Federation’s dedication to supporting and growing swimming talent in the Federation,” he said.

Skyla’s inclusion in this year’s competition marks a significant milestone not only in her budding career but also in the advancement of aquatics in St. Kitts and Nevis. As one of the youngest competitors at the Championships, her presence is a testament to years of hard work and a growing infrastructure around youth sports in the Federation.

The 50-metre freestyle and breaststroke are among the most competitive sprint events in international swimming, requiring exceptional speed, focus, and technical precision. Skyla’s participation in both events will not only challenge her against some of the world’s fastest swimmers but will also place St. Kitts and Nevis in the international spotlight once more.

The World Aquatics Championships serve as a major platform for athletes aiming to test their skills against global talent. For smaller nations like St. Kitts and Nevis, it also underscores the impact of grassroots development and national commitment to sporting excellence.

SKNAF extended its appreciation to coaches, supporters, and partners who have contributed to the development of aquatic sports in the Federation, noting that continued investment in young talent is vital for the future of competitive swimming.
