Dieppe Bay Man Charged with Kidnapping in Disappearance of Janelika Romney

The disappearance of 15-year-old Janelika Romney has taken a grave turn as police in St. Kitts and Nevis formally charged 64-year-old Selwyn “Judge” Pringle of Dieppe Bay with Kidnapping and False Imprisonment. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force confirmed that the arrest was made on Thursday, 26th June, 2025, following investigations led by the Violent Crimes Unit.

Janelika, a student of Verchilds High School and resident of New Guinea, was last seen on Monday, 16th June, 2025, wearing her school uniform around 3:40 p.m. Her disappearance prompted an outpouring of public concern and community action, including early morning search parties and widespread appeals from across the political spectrum.

Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Constituency #4 Representative Samal Duggins, and Opposition figure Azard Gumbs all publicly joined the call for Janelika’s safe return. The case has since dominated national headlines and triggered an intense police investigation that now appears to have reached a critical milestone.

Although law enforcement has not disclosed the specific evidence that led to Pringle’s arrest, the charges of Kidnapping and False Imprisonment mark a significant escalation in the case.

Sadly, despite this major development, Janelika’s whereabouts remain unknown, and police say the investigation is far from over. Authorities continue to urge the public to assist, highlighting the importance of every tip and lead. “Every available resource is being utilised in this ongoing investigation, and we continue to pursue all leads with urgency and determination,” police said in a statement.

The public is being asked to contact the nearest police station or call the Violent Crimes Unit directly at 662-3468. Tips will be handled in the strictest confidence, and anonymous submissions are welcome.

The Police Force reiterated its dedication to child safety and thanked citizens for their continued support and vigilance. “The safety and well-being of every child in our community is of paramount importance,” they said.
