The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is mourning a tragic turn in the disappearance of 15‑year‑old Janelika Romney, whose body was found in the White Gate area at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Friday, 27th June, 2025, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force confirmed.
Janelika was first reported missing on 16th June, triggering a widespread search effort, including a community-led search party on 21st June.
The discovery comes just days after 64‑year‑old Selwyn “Judge” Pringle of Dieppe Bay was arrested and charged with Kidnapping and False Imprisonment in connection with her disappearance. The arrest represented a significant breakthrough in the ongoing Janelika Romney investigation, but the tragic outcome leaves the community unsettled.
Police have not yet released the cause of death, pending further forensic examinations, but emphasised that all available investigative resources remain focused on uncovering the full circumstances. “We urge anyone with relevant information to contact the Violent Crime Unit at 662‑3468 or their nearest police station,” the force stated, reiterating its commitment to solving the case.
Community support has remained strong, with local residents and political leaders expressing condolences and urging calm during this difficult time. The investigation continues as authorities work to ensure justice for Janelika and her family.
