Drew Leads High-Level Delegation to AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum in Grenada

Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew, is leading a high-level delegation to ACTIF2025, the fourth edition of the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum, which takes place from 28th to 29th July, 2025, in St. George’s, Grenada. The forum serves as a key platform to deepen trade and economic ties between Africa and the Caribbean, amid growing calls for South-South cooperation.

The AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum (ACTIF2025) is convened under the theme, “Resilience and Transformation: Enhancing Africa-Caribbean Economic Cooperation in an Era of Global Uncertainty.” Organised by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with Caribbean governments and regional organisations, the forum aims to position both regions to jointly navigate global economic disruptions while expanding interregional trade.

Joining Prime Minister Drew on the delegation are Samal Duggins, Minister of Agriculture et al.; Carlton Pogson, Ministry of Finance representative; Naeemah Hazelle, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office; and Sherema Matthew, Director of the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service (SKNIS).

ACTIF2025 brings together heads of state, government officials, financiers, business leaders, and development agencies from Africa and the Caribbean. With trade between the two regions projected to reach USD $1.8 billion by 2028, the forum will focus on unlocking opportunities in key sectors such as processed food, minerals and metals, agribusiness, logistics, and transportation.

Dr. Drew’s participation is seen as a reaffirmation of his administration’s push for strategic alliances that align with St. Kitts and Nevis’ economic diversification and global positioning strategy. The delegation is expected to engage in policy discussions, bilateral meetings, and investment forums, with the aim of catalysing private sector collaboration, climate resilience financing, and infrastructure development.

“Strengthening Africa-Caribbean relations is not merely symbolic — it is a strategic economic imperative,” said an official from the Prime Minister’s Office. “This forum will help us to tap into new markets, drive export potential, and bring greater economic self-reliance to small island nations like ours.”

The Drew-led administration has consistently highlighted economic transformation, agricultural revitalisation, and digital innovation as key pillars of its governance agenda. Engagements at ACTIF2025 are expected to reinforce these goals, especially in areas of technology exchange, youth entrepreneurship, and green investment.

The forum follows previous ACTIF editions held in Barbados, Guyana, and Miami, each marking incremental progress in connecting Africa’s vast manufacturing and financial base with the Caribbean’s service-driven and tourism-led economies.

With shared cultural and historical ties, ACTIF2025 is poised to move the relationship between Africa and the Caribbean from vision to action, leveraging platforms like the Afreximbank’s Caribbean office in Barbados and its USD $1.5 billion commitment to the region.
