In a strategic move to advance renewable energy and sustainable development, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has launched a comprehensive five-week Solar PV Empowerment Training Programme. The initiative is spearheaded by the Office of the Prime Minister through the Elevate Programme, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Advanced Vocational Education Centre (AVEC), and Green Solutions International SKN Inc.
The training is designed to prepare citizens for careers in the growing green energy sector. More than thirty participants from both St. Kitts and Nevis have already begun intensive instruction in solar panel installation, electrical safety, and renewable energy systems. The course offers foundational skills that will enable participants to pursue employment or entrepreneurial opportunities within the renewable energy field.
Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office with responsibility for the Elevate Programme, Naeemah Hazelle, described the initiative as a critical step in preparing the Federation’s workforce for a sustainable future. She noted that this training will help build local capacity and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, while creating employment pathways for citizens.
“The training will include solar installation, electrical safety, renewable energy systems, and leave our participants with the foundations to enter the green workforce,” said Hazelle ahead of the start of the initiative. “As we prepare our people for the transition to green energy for the future of St. Kitts and Nevis, we urge you to participate fully in this important programme.”

The training is led by Dr. Wayne Archibald, Founder and Executive Director of Green Solutions International SKN Inc., and facilitated by GSI Certified Solar PV Instructors Gregory Francis and Lonzel Jones. Participants are receiving practical, hands-on instruction aligned with international standards and local energy goals.
With the Government’s push toward transforming St. Kitts and Nevis into a sustainable island state, this initiative supports the country’s efforts to embrace renewable energy solutions and reduce carbon emissions. The Elevate Programme continues to be a central pillar in delivering opportunities for personal development and economic empowerment.
