New SKNFA Technical Team Aims to Redefine Football Landscape in St. Kitts and Nevis

The St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association (SKNFA) has introduced a bold new technical team, marking what President Atiba Harris described as a defining moment in the nation’s push to elevate the standard of football across the Federation.

Unveiled during a press conference at Football House on Friday, 1st August, the team includes internationally experienced and locally rooted professionals, each tasked with reshaping football development from the youth ranks to national representation.

At the centre of this transformation is Brazilian football strategist Gilberto “Giba” Junior Damiano Macial, appointed as the Federation’s new Technical Director. Giba brings with him a global vision and a mission to make St. Kitts and Nevis a dominant force in Caribbean football.

“I’m here to work towards a shared dream,” said Giba. “It’s about seeing St. Kitts and Nevis emerge not just as participants, but as leaders in the Caribbean football space.”

Joining him in this charge is Kalia Huggins, recently crowned champion coach with the Dieppe Bay Eagles in Division 1, who now assumes leadership of the women’s football programme. Her vision is clear: increase female representation both on and off the pitch.

“Coaching, officiating, playing — we need women involved in every layer of the game,” said Huggins. “We’re starting that movement now, and I believe we can create a strong and sustainable path for women in football.”

Earl Jones, a seasoned coach with years of national team experience, will oversee youth development for girls. With a long-standing passion for female football, he pledged to continue building on past successes. “I’ve been committed to this journey since 2017,” said Jones. “It’s not just coaching — it’s a cause I care deeply about.”

On the boys’ side, Travis Rogers has been tasked with youth development. He stressed that cultivating talent at a young age is essential for long-term progress. “A strong football nation is built on strong foundations,” he noted. “That’s where our focus begins — at the grassroots level.”

Supporting this infrastructure is Lester Morris, who now leads Coaching Education. His priority is to raise the calibre of coaching, both in certifications and in practice. “Our aim is not just quantity, but quality,” Morris said. “We want our national league to reflect a level of professionalism and tactical understanding that can rival anywhere in the region.”

President Atiba Harris expressed complete confidence in the team’s ability to deliver. “This isn’t just about football,” Harris said. “It’s about national pride, youth opportunity, and regional leadership. I’m confident this group will guide us forward — not just to compete, but to lead.”

The appointments come at a time of strategic recalibration within the SKNFA. The Federation is intensifying its focus on player development, female inclusion, and modernised coaching — all cornerstones of its vision to transform the football ecosystem in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The newly formed technical unit signals a decisive shift toward professionalism, diversity, and long-term planning. With a blend of international expertise and local passion, the SKNFA is poised to forge a new era of football excellence, rooted in community development and national ambition.
