Sunrise Airways has dramatically expanded its regional footprint with the official launch of six new nonstop routes from St. Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport, on 27th July. The airline’s bold expansion is set to reshape intra‑Caribbean travel connectivity, offering unprecedented ease of access to Eastern Caribbean destinations.
The carrier introduced direct services from St. Maarten to six major Eastern Caribbean destinations: Tortola (British Virgin Islands), Antigua, Dominica, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenada. Initial promotional fares are exceptionally competitive: St. Maarten–St. Kitts tickets start at just US $79; Tortola, Antigua and Dominica routes begin at US $99; while St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Grenada are priced at launch fares of US $199.
This rollout represents one of the most ambitious intra‑Caribbean expansions to date by a regional airline. Building on its earlier 2024 launch of flights linking Antigua to destinations such as Grenada, St. Vincent and Guadeloupe, Sunrise Airways is steadily implementing its “One Caribbean” strategy to enhance regional mobility.
The airline now serves multiple islands from key hubs like Antigua and St. Maarten, bridging gaps between islands and offering seamless travel options for both residents and visitors.
Founded in 2010 and operational since 2012, Sunrise Airways is headquartered in Port‑au‑Prince and operates a modern fleet serving domestic and international Caribbean routes, including Haiti, Cuba, Panama, and now expanded Eastern Caribbean destinations. A new air operator certificate has enabled flights into airports such as Tortola and regional interline agreements with carriers like Winair, Bahamas Air, and Air Caraïbes further enhance network flexibility.
The appointment of a new CEO, Gary Stone—formerly of Sabre—signals Sunrise’s ambition to professionalise operations and scale up service in partnership with major travel distribution channels.
With rising demand for multi-island itineraries, this route expansion addresses the need for affordable, frequent intra‑Caribbean air connections. The new services are expected to boost tourism flows, facilitate business travel, and strengthen cultural exchanges throughout the region—including with major destinations like St. Kitts, Grenada and Saint Lucia.
Sunrise Airways has confirmed further expansion plans into 2026, anticipating the addition of more Caribbean islands and potential connectivity to North America. Its expanding regional hub model and growing interline partnerships position the airline well to become a leading Caribbean carrier.
