Cricket West Indies (CWI) has confirmed the 15-member squad that will face Pakistan in a highly anticipated three-match CG United One-Day International (ODI) series, set to take place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad on August 8th, 10th, and 12th. The announcement signals the final leg of the 2025 “Full Ah Energy” home series and reflects the region’s ambition to continue its upward trajectory in ODI cricket.
The West Indies are aiming for their fourth consecutive ODI series win at home, having ended 2024 with series victories over England and Bangladesh and secured a commendable performance in the UK earlier this year. This series against Pakistan also represents a crucial opportunity to gain valuable ranking points as the team pushes for automatic qualification to the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The squad retains a strong nucleus of players who have contributed to the team’s recent success, with Shai Hope continuing as captain. Newcomers such as Jewel Andrew and Jediah Blades are included alongside established players like Brandon King, Roston Chase, and Gudakesh Motie.
Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been rested as part of workload management protocols, while Romario Shepherd returns to the side after missing earlier matches in the year due to injury.
West Indies Head Coach Daren Sammy expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and determination.
“Pakistan presents a different test and challenge as we continue our push for automatic qualification for the 2027 World Cup,” Sammy said. “While qualifying is our immediate goal, maintaining a winning mentality and team cohesion is essential for long-term success.”
He added that facing a higher-ranked side like Pakistan provides a vital opportunity to improve the West Indies’ ODI ranking, particularly as the countdown to the next World Cup intensifies.
