Newtown Festival 2025 to Unite Community from September 6th

The Newtown Festival 2025 will open on 6th September, offering a packed schedule of cultural, sporting, and entertainment activities aimed at strengthening community ties. Spearheaded by Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister and Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #1, East Basseterre, the festival has been deliberately shaped to encourage unity and social connection, with a clear emphasis on keeping the celebrations separate from politics.

Dr. Hanley announced that the month-long programme will begin with a community health walk, followed by a range of events designed to appeal to all ages and interests. Karaoke competitions, bingo nights with substantial cash and household prizes, and lively street parades are among the highlights. The 16th September will feature a street jam and juve morning, while 19th September will see both the national and community heroes recognition ceremonies, along with the much-anticipated parade. Organisers are also working to secure sponsorship to add top-tier entertainment, including the popular Sugar Band.

The celebrations will close with a family street sports festival along Newton Bay Road, featuring aquatic activities, football, cricket, and tennis. The final day will include a special tribute to Newtown’s senior citizens, honouring their contributions and preserving a long-standing tradition of respect within the community.
